Level 3 Engineering Technician Standard with pathways available for: Mechatronics Maintenance Technician orToolmaker and Tool & Die Maintenance Technician.

Complete a 4 year apprenticeship with opportunities to complete a further 2 years at HNC level – Higher Apprenticeship in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Level 4.

Time Period:

4 years.


£11,289.96 (with a progressive salary structure).


  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • Level 2 Award for Foundation Phase Gateway Assessment
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Mechatronics Maintenance Technician
  • Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge).


Study Time:

Year 1: 5 days ‘off the job’ at a specialist training provider, learning both practical and theoretical skills in Engineering

Years 2 – 4: 4 days ‘on the job’ training based in the plant, with continued studies, 1 day a week with a specialist training provider.


Entry Eligibility:

You must be 16 years and above, have GCSE’s or equivalent at Grade C (or Grade 4 from 2017) or above in Maths, English Language, Science and 2 others and be eligible for an apprenticeship.



HNC level of study will be an optional progression (Higher Apprenticeship in Advanced Man. Eng Lv4).
