We have an opportunity for a Senior Controller in Purchasing to lead a department of 7 buyers across 2 sites who will be responsible for a budget of approximately £120m. The role will also include discovery of new suppliers and global supply chain routes, price and contractual negotiations for products and services, ongoing supplier relationship management and continuous improvement of the supply chain strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop the procurement strategy for your areas of responsibility
  • Create expenditure forecasts and budget management
  • Provide monthly/quarterly data on expenditure impact, discuss strategies, priorities and issues with the Purchasing manager
  • Lead the cost improvement activity across the supplier base
  • Support business improvements initiatives across programmes of work to ensure that the strategic goals of the business and Procurement are met
  • Lead the supplier development team with a focus on continual improvement of Quality, Delivery, and Cost
  • Managing and resolving day-to-day issues with suppliers in a timely and effective manner
  • Proactive supplier risk management with development and deployment of mitigation plans
  • Negotiate and develop formal supply agreements and ensure compliance
  • Support relevant internal and external compliance and re-certification audits
  • Secure critical EHS, regulatory, REACH and other fiscal data on suppliers and ensure the data captured in relevant databases
  • Conduct research on potential suppliers and lead the supplier on-boarding process Identify, appraise, source and select suppliers in line with procurement strategy and customer requirements
  • Manage and refine strategic supplier evaluation and selection process
  • Contribute to the performance and output of the team to drive change and develop, implement, optimise and/or continuously improve work processes, techniques and systems and procurement savings in accordance with business targets
  • Proactively lead project sourcing events in a timely manner ensuring key milestones are achieved to budget.

The Person:

  • The ideal candidate will be MCIPs qualified
  • minimum of 5 years procurement
  • Experience managing direct and indirect categories within an automotive manufacturing plant
  • Knowledge and experience of best practise category management, sourcing, contract management and supplier performance management
  • Demonstrate evidence of development and execution of relevant category strategies
  • Track record of delivering value and continuous improvement.

  • Highly numerate with strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Assertive and tenacious with ability to manage internal and external contacts with diplomacy
  • Able to research key cost drivers and ensure that procurement of items are undertaken accordingly
  • Able to understand and interpret the various economic factors that influence markets ·Experienced in successfully leading and conducting the negotiation of contracts across technical, commercial and legal areas
  • Ability to facilitate several activities at any one time, prioritising workload and effectively communicate current position

Starting Salary: £ Competitive
Salary is negotiable, depending on experience. Working hours for this position are detailed below, however overtime may be required.

Schedule:

  • Monday – Thursday: 7:45am – 4:30pm
  • Friday:  7:45am – 2:10pm
