For three decades, Unipres has prided itself on delivering excellence in the automotive industry from our base in Sunderland.
We are a global company powered by local people – focused on achieving product excellence, committed to developing our skilled workforce and dedicated to driving forward innovation across our industry.
The Sunderland plant, along with our base in Birmingham, are the focal points of Unipres operations in Europe. As a manufacturer of press-formed automotive components, we apply technical skills, including expertise in safety and environmental performance, to create a range of technology solutions tailored to meet the needs of our customers.
Unipres is also steadfastly committed to creating employment opportunities, investing in the creation of the Unipres Training Academy, which opened its doors in 2017.
With factory-standard equipment and tutors who have first-hand manufacturing experience, we have created a production line of future talent.
Embracing the ethos of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement, Unipres is a traditional manufacturer with modern values and practices.
At Unipres we create opportunities, strive for excellence, provide customer satisfaction and make cars safer.
Unipres UK – Family Ties
As part of the Unipres UK 30th anniversary celebrations, Apprentice Maintenance Technicians, Grace Edmundson and Jack Simm sat down with their fathers Senior Supervisor Colin and Tutor/Assessor Steve to discuss roles at the Washington factory and how a global company works hard to attract young local talent.
It is not unusual for several generations of the same family to work at Unipres UK. Both Colin and Steve have been employed at the Washington plant since it opened, 30 years ago and now passing on their knowledge, experience and passion for the business to the next generation of engineers and technicians.
Unipres celebrated a historic milestone by launching a project all about its future. The company used its 30th anniversary to launch a new Training Academy at the Washington plant, that will help upskill employees and provide a classroom for the factory’s apprentices....
Following a fantastic National Apprenticeship Week 2019 for Unipres, the company was delighted to stage an event to celebrate its latest successful cohort of apprentices. This “Celebration of Success” event provided the opportunity to recognise everyone achieving...
Apprenticeship Week 2019 is on its way and to mark the occasion Unipres UK is shining the spotlight on some of our apprentices past and present - this time, it's Junior Engineer/Purchasing Controller Rhys Goulden...
We have invested over £2m in the Unipres Training Academy at Washington Business Centre, which is producing qualified apprentices in its simulated manufacturing environment.
The Academy is equipped with the robots, machinery and equipment that is currently being used on the factory floor, enabling apprentices to learn the ropes using the exact equipment they will utilise when on the job.
Unipres works with the North East Apprenticeship Ambassador Network (NEAAN), a group of companies spearheading the drive for employers and young people to commit to apprenticeships.
