UPUK has an opening for Buyer with key responsibilities ranging from purchasing components from UPUK’s approved supplier chain, through to initiating RFQ’s and managing through to cost effective conclusion and nominating successful offers to suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchase goods & materials to ensure that the company operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery ensuring continuity of supply
  • Control of direct budget, monitor spend and highlight variances
  • Contribute to cost down initiatives in support of company cost reduction activity
  • Generate and manage Requests for Quotation and tender analysis
  • Work towards a strategy of continuous improvement to achieve cost beneficial activities

 The Person:

  • Ability to add value, reduce costs and be a key member of the purchasing team
  • Ability to work safely, efficiently and accurately, prioritise workload and be self-motivated
  • Computer literate, with proficient Excel skills is a key non-negotiable
  • Good written and verbal communication skills


  • Purchasing experience, preferably within an automotive or manufacturing environment, but not essential
  • Attention to detail with the ability to analyse data
  • Knowledge of ERP functionalities and reporting data


  • Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPs) or desire to work towards after completion of probationary period
  • Intermediate knowledge of purchasing functions
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a potentially fast paced environment

The role will suit someone with relevant experience in, but not limited to:

  • Managing internal customer relationships
  • Understanding of safety, health, environment policies
  • Logistics and / or materials management
  • Understanding of RFQ process through to low level contract management

Salary: £42,993pa to £45,255.48pa depending on experience


  • Monday – Thursday: 7:45am – 4:30pm
  • Friday: 7:45am – 2:10pm
